How Do You Insert Fur or Hair within the Memorial Keepsake?
The hair is cut into small pieces and placed inside a hidden compartment within the jewelry. Once it's inside, we seal it shut.
We do not use the screw-top technique where clients place the hair into the urn themselves. To ensure no water leaks into the compartment, we’ve found that screw mechanisms often wear down over time with everyday use.
Is There a Way to See the Hair within the Memorial Jewelry:
Yes! There are two ways of creating memorial jewelry, for the first method we place the ashes or hair within a small compartment and seal it shut.
The other method involves placing the fur or ashes into a resin mixture (as seen in the ring to the right). Resin is similar to clear nail polish that hardens once set. We can customize it in any color and opacity. The lighter the opacity, the more visible the fur will be—so clients can let us know whether they’d prefer the hair to be clearly visible or more subtle.
For resin, we always provide a swatch of the final color before placing it inside the jewelry to ensure it matches your vision.
How to Know the Authenticity
When inserting the hair, we always film the process so you can be sure it was done. Many clients have also told us they find watching the process both healing and reassuring. Any unused hair is always returned along with the finished jewelry.
